PROCRASTINATION

What is justice? the philosophers say

and have said

since justice was invented

probably by some philosopher.

They’ve said what they’ve said

in their personal, professional, and philosophical opinions

and I have an opinion

though not professional as much as personal

as does my neighbor

and his neighbor’s neighbor.

And the judge of course has an opinion

both personal and professional

though he’s just one person

however opinionated

and not a philosopher or my neighbor

but a person appointed to power

by power.

His philosophy is doctrine

his profession is decision

and his opinion is truth

enforced by power.

This person is justice

and I’m all for justice

from what I’ve heard of it.

Now I say, “Thou, who art my cocktail glass, come hither!”
